MLC at IMEX Frankfurt 🇩🇪
This May, IMEX held in Frankfurt brought together the global events industry for a few inspiring days of connection, discovery and fresh ideas. From strengthening existing relationships to exploring exciting venues and destinations, it was a brilliant opportunity to gain insight into what’s shaping the future of meetings and events.
This year, both Sam and Vicky attended as hosted buyers, each experiencing IMEX through different partnerships and perspectives.
Attending with Shangri-La, Sam spent the week connecting with hotels, venues and industry partners across Europe and beyond, uncovering exciting opportunities for future events. Alongside networking and hosted experiences, Sam also carried out site visits on behalf of clients who will be hosting an event in Frankfurt later this year, allowing us to experience venues first-hand and ensure they truly align with the client brief.
The week also created a valuable opportunity to meet with our international partners and discuss the range of global events we currently have open. Having these conversations in person not only strengthens relationships, but also helps us deepen our understanding of each client proposal, ensuring we continue finding the most suitable and impactful venues for every brief.
Meanwhile, Vicky attended through DM Connections, taking part in a curated programme of appointments, networking and hosted experiences while gaining valuable insight into emerging trends and new opportunities across the global events landscape.
Alongside productive meetings, IMEX also delivered some unforgettable moments across Frankfurt from beautiful hosted dinners and exceptional hospitality to a glass (or two) of wine shared with industry friends old and new. Because often, the best conversations happen well into the evening, where Sam attended a street food festival and built further connections.
One of the biggest takeaways was seeing first-hand how experience-led events, strong partnerships and destination-driven concepts continue to shape what clients are looking for. And while IMEX may be over for another year, the exploring certainly doesn’t stop there…

As part of our continued international growth over recent months, Vicky and Sam have been exploring venues across Spain and beyond. Meeting teams, experiencing properties first-hand and uncovering spaces that offer something genuinely different for clients looking outside the UK.
METT Barcelona 🇪🇸
One of Vicky’s standout visits was METT Barcelona a venue that immediately impressed with its panoramic views across the city and beautifully designed spaces. Combining contemporary interiors with elevated terraces, the property feels luxurious whilst remaining incredibly versatile for events.
From intimate client dinners and networking events to incentives and larger celebrations, the venue can completely transform depending on the brief. And honestly… those views do make a pretty strong first impression.
ME Barcelona 🇪🇸
For clients looking for something modern and experience-led, ME Barcelona was a brilliant discovery. The hotel brings a strong personality and focus on locally inspired experiences, creating stays and events that feel connected to the destination.
Vicky particularly loved the emphasis on making guests experience Barcelona rather than simply visit it. Making it a great fit for offsites, leadership gatherings and incentive programmes.
W Hotel Barcelona 🇪🇸
Sitting directly on the beachfront, W Barcelona brings serious wow-factor. With incredible sea views, stylish social spaces and strong event capabilities, it strikes that perfect balance between business and leisure.
It’s the kind of venue that makes a company offsite feel more like a reward than a meeting, ideal for international teams looking to combine productivity with a little Mediterranean magic.
Claris Hotel & Spa 🇪🇸
For something a little different, Claris Hotel & Spa stood out for its individuality and character. Part of Derby Hotels Collection, the property combines luxury hospitality with authentic art and design influences throughout the guest experience.
Alongside its unique rooms, the rooftop, restaurants and spa create a setting that feels distinctive and memorable for clients wanting something beyond a traditional luxury hotel.
Mas de Torrent Hotel & Spa 🇪🇸
For a recent client brief, Sam swapped the city for the Catalonian countryside to explore Mas de Torrent Hotel & Spa. With just 39 suites and expansive outdoor spaces, the property offers a more intimate and exclusive feel.
Perfect for executive retreats and leadership offsites, it combines meetings with wellness, outdoor experiences and long dinners under the Spanish sky, exactly the type of venue designed to help teams reconnect.
Torre Melina Barcelona 🇪🇸
Torre Melina Barcelona offered something completely different, a peaceful retreat feeling within the city itself. Surrounded by beautiful gardens and with an impressive range of meeting and event spaces, the property feels ideal for larger conferences, company gatherings and events that need flexibility without compromising on experience.
It stood out for combining the scale and capabilities of a larger venue with a much calmer, more relaxed atmosphere than you might expect from a city hotel.
Azul Rooftop 🇪🇸
In contrast, Azul Rooftop brought a much more social and energetic feel. With incredible views across the Barcelona skyline and sea, the space immediately lends itself to connection whether that’s networking events, drinks receptions or more intimate celebrations.
The visit was a great reminder of how Barcelona offers such a diverse mix of venue styles, allowing clients to create experiences that feel completely tailored depending on the brief.
Shangri-la Paris 🇫🇷
Although slightly outside the Spain flow, Sam’s hosted stay at Shangri-La Paris deserves a mention. Set within the former residence of Prince Roland Bonaparte, the property blends heritage architecture with elegant event spaces and understated luxury.
What made the biggest impression though was the hospitality, thoughtful touches and exceptional service that elevated the whole experience.
